Which of the following funds would you like to have in your portfolio?

#1
This is another question I am asking to learn how to to choose the right fund(s) from a number of (nearly) similar funds:

HDFC Balanced, HDFC Equity, HDFC Growth, HDFC Prudence, HDFC Top 200, HDFC Long term Advantage, HDFC Taxsaver.

(I know two of these are ELSS funds, but I am adding these since their returns are comparable to other equity oriented funds and all are offered by the same fund house.)

All the above funds have comparable returns over last five years.
Assume investment horizon of 20 years to decide your choice(s). Please explain your choice(s). If you choose more than one fund, then in what ratio will you invest in the funds?

Thanks.

I guess you wanted to figure out the best 1 of these funds and invest in it for long term... good. Needless to say, I hope you know all these funds have different mandate. I would say, the answer depends on what you have in your current portfolio. For eg., if you already have 1 or more taxsavers, my answer would not be HDFC taxsaver. While the bottom line is the returns, there are other factors that matter as well. Apart from the returns, you can learn about alpha, beta etc.
