Should I invest now?

Should I invest in equity mutual funds now. What is the short term outlook and long term outlook. Assume 40% of my money is already in equity mutual funds and rest in cash/debt.
Also I'm an aggressive investor with very long term outlook but also seek short term benefit from certain trends.

Thanks.

Long term outlook is as good as always, equities always outperform other asset classes in the long term.

There is no such thing as short term gains when dealing with equity Investments. Trading is different from investing.

First, take care of emergency fund needs via savings account in a local bank or via net banking. Take care of your & your dependents medical insurance either through your employer or directly. Get a life insurance via term policy.
If you are in 20s or 30s you can invest upto 80% in equity and the rest in debt mutual funds. Assuming you hold all the equity in well-diversified and well-managed funds, I would suggest keeping atleast 60% of that amount in large cap funds like DSPBR Top100, Fidelity equity. Keep 20-30% of that amount in mid and rest in small & micro caps.
