What is the best MF for investor with very long term horizon

#1
Hi,
I really find it distressing that periodically I have to do research of funds and adjust my portfolio etc. So for very long term > 20 years is there no hybrid fund which should give the best returns.

All the mutual funds which I invest in like HDFC Top 200 I trade them in sync with market cycles to make more profit then they give me. This is deeply distressing that I have a chance to get involved to increase my profit.

What I wan't is independence from these worries. I just want to invest all my money and forget about it. I have no short term goals.

Why do you trade in Actively Managed Mutual Funds? That is the worst thing to do. You are trying to time the market and would have to pay STCG.

Why not invest in a few good Large Cap oriented funds like HDFC Top 200 and Fidelity Equity through a SIP for 20 years? Or you can go with Index Funds. M50 should be a good bet for the long run.

Another option would be a good FOF like this one here:

Even paying STCG tax and 1.00% exit load it can be profitable to trade buy low, sell high buy at the next low.
Yourstatement of buy low sell high is easier said than done by many....
Same thing(buying the stock low and selling high) is tried by many MF fund managers(professionals with sophisticated research team and methods). Despite that u can see the difference of performance.. So we have to think where we stand in analysing the low or high. Most of the time its a MIRAGE..
SIP would be the best way for non professionals... But still if u r thinking about timing , u can do at by some predetermined calculations...e.g increase the SIP by 5% if market falls 10 %... To do so keep proper asset allocation and move it smartly....

Dear, U can close your eyes & go for HDFC Prudence, BSL 95, RELIANCE Regular Savings Balance, CAN ROBECO BALANCE, or DSP BLACK ROCK Balance. These are Hybride Equity fund and AUTO adjustable according to mkt condition. Their average returns for 1 yr / 3 yr / 5 yr are 28%, 16%, 21%. Each fund have investment in Giant Cap, Large Cap , Mid Cap & Small Cap & Fund Managers are adjusting investment according performance of different Caps. I am investing in MF since 1971 (started with US 64) & still 70% of my investment in MF. I got return of 30% to 90%. Of course from pure equity funds. You can further study & invest accoridng to you risk appite....SLM
