Best funds to start SIP

Hi,

I would like to do monthly SIP for 10K. I am planning to do this for next 5 years. I am new to mutual fund. I don't need this money for next 5 years. Can somebody help me to find 4-5 best funds for me?

You don't need a 4-5 funds, since the SIP charges would take away some money (Rs. 33 / transaction in ICICI). Also, since you're a first time investor , tracking 4-5 funds might not be familiar for you.

I'd suggest 2 funds (both in Growth options since the time period is 5 years )

Large Cap : one of following (decreasing levels of recommendation as per me)
HDFC Top 200 (G)
DSP BR Top 100 (G)
Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity (G)
IDFC Imperial Equity (G)

Multi-cap: one fund
Reliance Regular Savings Equity (G)

Split the amount between the funds in 50:50 and happy investing !

Do any of the following if you have lumpsum money with you can do STP from liquid fund to it.

1. HDfc Prudence (3000) + HDFC Top 200(4000)/HDFC Equity(3000)

or

2. Reliance RSF Balance + Reliance Growth/ Reliance Regular Savings Equity
