Hi Guys,

Are you planning to cash out from your Equity MF now that Nifty is ~at 5500 ?

Just a quick poll to pick each other's brains. Please give your timeframe of MF investments.

There is no straight answer for this. As per my little exp, we need to make habit of booking some profit when market is euphoric and put those back in when market is pessimistic. As far as investing is concern, going out of market fully does not make sense and force us to take wrong decision later( Except end of bull market cycle end.)

There is a good post by Traderji about different phases of bull market and bear market, one can read that to have better understanding of current market situation/cycle.

Happy Trading!

Another options is transferring the equity to debt or MIP schemes under the same fund house. Each month going by indicates that perhaps retail invesors are shifting to debt esp MIPs. Better to book out of the underperforming schemes much the same way as some penny stocks. Some close ended funds with a mid cap and small cap focus by ICICI and HDFC are the bottom of the heap in the 3 year ago...Better to dispose of these. The exodus of fund managers will force us to jump schemes if performance is an issue.

Hi Continue to invest through SIp and always keep your own equity: debt( like( 70:30 or 80:20) ratio. rebalance your ratio once in 6 months to 1 year. In general predicting the market and booking profit should be avoided if u r a long term invester. If you feel market is overheated slightly reduce the equity and increase the debt. But dont deviate too much from your desired ratio. Also dont see the NAV daily like a stock... Why because we will be tempted to do something
The only predictable thing in equity market is UNPREDICTABILITY. So who knows "market may rise to 6000 within this year end'.
