MF related doubt Plz help

#1
Hi,

I have invested some amnt in taxgain MF at the time whne sensex was 20K(in JAN 2008) and each unit cost me Rs.69(today it is at Rs 56 ).
Can i still hope of some gain fronm this scheme say after the lock in period ends (3 yrs)???Is it like only when NAV value ccrosses the 69 mark then ,then i can obtain some profit???
I m right in this approximation or on some other basis the profit is calulated??

kindly help...

Hi Pankaj,

Yes it is true that you will only get profit when NAV of your fund (I assume is Magnum Taxgain) will cross 69 mark. Anyways you have no choice but to hold on to the fund till 3 year lock in period. You can either stay invested or withdraw your funds after that.

Your example is classic example for people here to realise benefits of SIP's. Please keep in mind, not to invest lumpsum amount in MF's unless you are aware of the market conditions and study it properly. Try to invest in MF's in SIP way.
