Which is the best Dividend yield MF?

Dear Friends,
Please suggest a good mutual fund having highest dividend yield with consistent dividend payment track record (atleast for the past 3 to 4 years).

Thank you,

Akshara

Why is dividend payment relevant?

What one should be looking for is consistent performance, whether it came as dividend or capital gain. If your risk tolerance is very low, you should be looking at FDs or post office deposits (even debt funds don't guarantee constant returns). If you are looking for high returns, look at 5* diversified equity funds. And then there are many midway options like MIPs.

Consider dividend payout option of the following for next 6-12 months:

- IDFC Premier equity Plan A
- Reliance Growth
- Birla Sun life Mid cap fund
- ICICI Prudential discovery fund

I have just loved my investment in IDFC Premier for last 18 months. It is an amazingly well managed fund.

Please suggest a good mutual fund having highest dividend yield...
Are you looking for a equity mutual fund scheme that invests into high dividend yield stocks? If yes, you might want to take a look at Birla Sunlife Dividend Yield Plus, UTI Dividend Yield.

Or if you are looking for a fund that *pays* more of dividend at regular intervals, you should check for the best performers in the category of Monthly Income Plans. HDFC Monthly Income Plan - Long Term has been the category topper for quite sometime.

You can use http://www.valueresearchonline.com for quick comparison.

Dear Friends,
with consistent dividend payment track record (atleast for the past 3 to 4 years).
If your requirement is a consistent dividend payout at regular intervals, you could take a look at Monthly Income Plans/Dividend option. Possibility of missing on payout is much less if you take up a Quarterly Dividend option than a Monthly Dividend option.

Pure equity funds do not pay dividend in a consistent manner. This is because equity prices tend to be volatile in the short term (like a month or a quarter).

On the other hand, debt funds (pure or ones with moderate equity exposure like MIPs) are more stable & can distribute the gains effectively.
