dear ramesh

You didnt mentioned your starting time....
But for a period of 2 yrs from now, SIP will work for you.
To clear this, one thing I would like to tell you .....

You say the fund is not performing...isnt it.....this means
the NAV is not increasing...isnt it...

A low NAV will accumulate more units for you...and by the time
your SIP completes you will have more number of units.....

Well here is a chance that while redeemption, may the NAV is
also low compared to other such funds....but 2 yr period will be
enough for the fund manager to change the portfolio of stock holding
and get good working stocks under the fund.....

Another thing....if you stop SIP and start investing in other same
category fund...are you sure that fund will perform best for the
period of 2 yrs?

Pls give some time to perform.....SIP wouldnt give you more then
15-22% in a year. Then, after a period of 2 yrs the returns will start increasing.

well, finally the decision is yours...

have a nice day

Default SIP or Lumpsum investment ???

Hi Friends,

I am a NRI. I want to invest in Mutual Funds and I have about 10 lakhs with me.
Now the confusion is "Should I go for SIP or a one time investment?"
I have read in many articles by experts that SIP is the best way to invest in MFs.
However, in my case I have this 10 lacs ready and would like to make the most out of it.
My question is which is more beneficial - "Investing the whole amount now or divide this amount and invest regularly in a SIP? "
Can anyone explain this using examples? Please.

SIP is the best way anyday.

In your case, you could put the fund in a liquid mutual fund and do an STP - Systematic Transfer Plan. The period of STP could vary from 6 to 12 months which would be your choice.

Brillaint articles, ebizempire. The superb article by Amita Shah was very helpful.
And thank you Vicky. I will now learn how an STP works.

Thank you again to both of you.

Dear Singam,
For opening a SIP you need not to watch market. SIP takes care of market up and down. SIP is one of the safest way to get benefit of stock market.
