Monthly Income Plan Returns

#1
Hi,

I would like to invest some money in the monthly income plan mfs. However I would like to know the following answers. Can some one help?

1. Is there a tenure (lock-in) period for all MIPs?
2. Is there a site which gives the actual return amounts in Rs for the MIPs? Many sites gives the return amounts in % over a period of time, but I don't want that. I need to know the history of monthly payments and the exact amounts in Rs that was given to the investors. Can some one help?

Thanks,
Balaji.

Sorry, cann't help you with your specific question.

I don't see MIPs as really monthly income earners unlike fixed deposits. Even pure debt funds don't generate constant unchanging income like FDs do. Its just that compared to pure debt funds, MIPs are one step towards equity funds - with some 10-15% money in equities and rest in debt. As a result, their return tends to be somewhat higher than debt funds

Reliance, HDFC, Birla Sunlife have decent MIP funds according to Value Research. Typically, there is exit load involved if you redeem within a year. No lock in otherwise like tax funds.

Any one know of a site where I can purchase MIP mutual funds online? I am in US and I don't want to go thru the pain of filling forms, posting to India etc.

I have an account with standard chartered wealth managers (UTI securities), but they don't offer "Reliance MIP" and "Principal MIP" which I am planning to purchase.

I don't want to open a new account with another securities company like ICICIdirect or something like that.

Thanks,
Balaji.

Hi,

I have an auditor in India who is taking care of my investments like insurance, mutual funds etc. I can always go thru him. I don't want to go thru him since I want to transact everything online this time.

Sorry, I am not interested in including a middleman for the current investment. If that is the case, I can always go thru my auditor because he is a very reliable and loyal friend to me.

Thanks,
Balaji.
