Gold ETF - How to invest

#1
Dear financial gurus,

I want to know how to invest in Gold ETFs. I live out of country and do invest online. But I understand that we cannot invest online in Gold ETFs. It would be appreciated if somebody could give expert guidance on the procedure as to how to invest in Gold ETFs.

Thanks in advance.

Investing in Gold ETF's is very Easy, all you need to do is have an online trading account.

Under NSE you have GOLDBEES, Kotak Gold and other Gold ETF's, they can be bought and sold online purely on Delivery basis, you can't be day trading in ETF's.

Best of luck

1. He says he is investing from abroad. Perhaps, the regulations are different. He has to check it out with his broker.

2. Day-trading is certainly allowed and possible in ETFs.

Following are various GOLD ETFs in India.

Benchmark MF - GOLD Benchmark ETS - GOLDBEES
Kotak MF - Gold ETF - KOTAKGOLD
UTI MF - UTI Gold ETC - GOLDSHARE
Reliance MF - Gold ETF - RELGOLD
Quantum Gold Fund - ETF - QGOLDHALF
SBI Gold ETF - SBIGETS

From trading perspective, they are like any other stock.
If you have trading account linked to NSE, then u just have to use the right scrip code and execute the transaction.

Happy Trading.

Thank you all.

I think it is not as easy as to invest in MFs for which no trading account is required. In MFs we can invest from abroad online through internet banking channels.

Hi AW10,
Ok i agree. If you are looking for Indian Gold ETF SBi is the best resource for it. Some where around march a news spread stating that " State of Bank of India (SBI)--had launched a gold exchanged traded fund ". Do you have other resources other then this.

In my prev post in this thread, I have given the name and nse code of 6 Gold ETFs.
SBI GETS in just one of them.
I haven't tracked their performance but at a glance they all should be performing approximately same because they have similar investment objective.

I would go ahead with the one that is more liquid.

Happy Trading.
