Which One to Pick at my age?

#1
Hi guys,

I am 21 and am just starting in the market scenario. I would like to invest in MF but don't really have an idea on what basis should I be picking one? I have visited some sites and they say you should pick one based on your age, profile etc. So, my age as told is 21 and I tend to invest for mid-term priod (neither long nor short)... Need help from you people as to which MF fund should I use and why?

Also, how and on what parameters should I compare the different MFs? How do i compare their returns?

Thanks a lot...

What is your mid-term length...2 or 3 years... then no equity mf's.

Go for debt funds. If you do not want to invest around or more than 4 to 5 years... you may not get good returns or no returns..

At your age, you might want to invest in large caps:mid cap:debt in the ratio 5:2:3

Large Cap Funds - Pick 2 from Birla Frontline, DSP BR Top 100, HDFC Top 200, Kotak 30
Mid Cap oriented Funds - Pick one from Reliance Growth, Reliance regular savings - equity, DSP ML Equity
Debt - Pick a Bond Fund, FRF Long Term Fund and FRF Short Term Fund and invest in ratio 5:4:1

Happy Investing..
