Re: What is a quant fund ?

Quant fund invest on the basis of computer coded economic model.. the main idea behind it is to remove factors like Greed, fear like humans have..... all invest by the fund is done on the basis of Economic and mathematical model whch is developed by mathematicians and economists.

Dear friend,

is this model any good. Will it make us any money. Today the fund has reached 7.99 NAV.

Does anyone know what this equation / model is ?

Is it a time tested thing ?

Are their any such funds in the US, UK, or other developed markets that u know of?

Thanx,

Does it help in long run as compared to mere index investing?
The AIMA's Questionnaire is a good template for investors to inquire about Alternative Investments, like Quant funds, Hedge Funds, Riskarb funds etc.
It helps you have a comprehensive overview in a simple manner:
  • MANAGER ORGANISATION
  • FEES
  • LIQUIDITY
  • FUND ASSETS
  • CAPACITY MANAGEMENT
  • WITHDRAWALS
  • FUND PERFORMANCE
  • DRAWDOWNS
  • MANAGER TRACK RECORD
  • STRATEGIES
  • LEVERAGE
  • HEDGING
  • DIVERSIFICATION
  • RISK MANAGEMENT
  • INVESTMENT RESEARCH
  • ADMINISTRATION

Just for eg. look at Fortitude Capital's questionnaire: www.fortitudecapital.com/docs/dd/aima_questionnaire.pdf

For any such investment you can make such a report yourself by quickly gathering info from the fund's brochure.
