From valuable opinions from learned fellows I am primarily interested to invest in SBI Magnum Fund. My purpose is to save tax u/s.80c because I am a retired person (62 years) having only income from interest under MIS. After deducting Rs.1 lakh from my total interest income, I assume, I can still derive exemption if I invest in appropriate MF Scheme before arriving at Net Taxable Income. So, I will be much helped should any gentleman suggest me :
(a) How to buy an approprate scheme under SBI Magnum Fund. (b) Whenever one is interested to buy units in MF how to determine exact entry point. (c) What relevant points I need to collect and consider before arriving at final decision.

Hello!
As your profile goes, at 62 n MIS interest being your only source of income, I donot think it will be prudent to take risk of MF investment say ELSS. Other 80c options like Bank FD (5yrs), NSC or a running PPF acc etc will suit your lower risk appetite. mr india
