Default Can NRI's invest in Mutual Funds

Hello All,

Just recently joined this group. I am from USA and actively invest in the US market. As an NRI can I invest in stocks or Mutual funds markets in India. I have heard that one can invest but at the time of repatriable of your investment RBI has stringent laws for NRIs.

Can someone provide their views and expertise on this matter.

Thanks,
KJ

Dear Saint,
I have read in Valueresearchonline.com that dividends and redemptions from some fund are taxed differently for NRIs. For each fund applicable sections of ITact is given in http://www.valueresearchonline.com/
