Have a look here for rating based on fund's performance :

http://www.moneycontrol.com/india/mu...5/detailedview

And also ValueResearch's link :

http://www.valueresearchonline.com/f...1&objective=20

Personally I'd recommend SBI Magnum Tax Gain ( I have investment in it) and PNB Principal Personal Tax Saver fund ..

Dear prasathvishnu,

I found "Money 101" from CNN's website to be very intresting. Some of the terms used have a diffrent corresponding terms here. (like 401 funds are like our PF funds..).

But overall, it covers how to plan, save, tax, insure and invest..

I want to invest 20000/- in Tax savings scheme in the year 2007-08. Is there any new Tax saving MFs are being floated in this year?

Thanks,

No you will not get tax exption under 80c

if you hold that fund over a year you can avoid capital gains taxes

Default Re: Best ELSS(Tax saving mutual funds)

I have one query for SBI magnum Tax saver or for any MF, please let me know "Is it mandatory to invest annualy in a mutual fund or just to invest once for three years locking period?" because if we take ULIP policy then we have to invest three years annualy to keep the policy active, I think that should not be the case here, please suggest?

Default Good ELSS scheme

hi friends this is my first post to traderiji...
I like to invest Rs 30000 for tax saving. which ELSS scheme is better and giving good returns without much risks.I dont know much about the technical details of the mutual funds.Kindly give your suggestion.

I heard abt principal tax(72%) saving and Taurus Libra Taxshield (108%)...Whether to go for anyone of this ? Anyother suggestions will also be helpful to me.

ELSS are great options when it comes to making tax saving investments along with earning high returns. Past one year average return delivered by ELSS category of mutual funds is 60.03% as on December 16, 2007.
