Default Help With Basics

Hi All,

I have a few queries regarding basics of metastock. Hope someone can help me figure out how to do it.

1) How do we change from arithmetic to logirmethic scale.

2) When I open a chart on the metastock it shows a stock from 2004
onwards. How can i change the period of the charts.

3) How do we use histograms on MACD. I mean I want to plot The difference
between the MACD and signal line. And also It gives me the option to
change the time period for the signal line( which is 9). But i am not able to
change the time period of the two moving averages used to plot MACD.

4) Metastock also offers MACD-dema smoothed and Thema smoothed. Is it the same as MACD. What is the difference.

Thanks and Regards

Rahul

P.S I would also invite other members to post queries regarding technical help in metastock in this thread itself as it would make the space more clean and also any new person joining will gte lot of help from one page itself, instead of opening different threads looking for answers to his queries.

Is it possible to add comments to the charts we open. Like if I open TATA STEEL and I draw trendlines and I want to add some comments for myself to the chart. How do we do it if it is possible.

There is a short cut of putting text box on the left side of metastock from where the Fib. lines are drawn. You can use those text boxes to put your comments on the chart.

Hi Ashish,

Thanks. I have 7.0 version of metastock. I tried to locate the short cut but I am sure there is none on my metastock at the moment. Is there a longer way of doing it and also adding it to the short cut tool bar where the fib. lines and other short cuts are there.

Also I draw trendlines and personalise a script as per my requirement. lets say in its daily charts. Now i go to weekly charts and draw different trendlines. How do I save both differently. If i say save as default template the latest changes save. HOw do I save trendlines on daily and weekly separatly.

Sorry am new and still figuring out things on the software.

Regards

Rahul

Just go to View above,go to TOOLBARS,and check TEXT........and then do the needful writing that you want on the chart.

You can save the two charts in the charts folder as smartcharts. But they won't open by default with the indicators/trendlines/text plotted whenever you open the security again. You will have to go back to the charts folder and open the already saved chart.

I want to use the indicator traderji has given in the thread Q&A by neal. The formulae is c> ref(hhv(c,63),-1). I went to explorer ( which looks like a binoculars). Then I press new. Then in the name i put any name I want. in the coloumn A I put in the formula.

Do I also need to put in anything in the filter coloumn.

How am I suppose to read the report that it generates.
