hi everyone,
i'm surprised everyone talks of metastock but not about pricing. it's available in the US 4 much less. in fact stockcharts.com offers a bundle of metastock 9.1 & chart pattern recognition add on 4 $ 550. in india viratech retails metastock 9.1 only 4 around 31000 plus 4 % VAT. what i want 2 know is if i can order directly from the US paying thru western union and if it will be delivered diretly 2 my doorstep or will i have 2 collect it from customs. in case of the latter, how much duty will i have 2 shell out. would it b worth the trouble ? the info provided by someone well versed with import duties will help a lot of people as the software is grossly overpriced in india. as 4 beginners i would agree with my other friends on the forum that they could use amibroker with a reliable data feed. the free version is very good & does pretty much everything except screening. but a beginner wouldn't have the money 2 invest in 10 - 15 stocks at a time. so if you're still learning & trading 2 - 3 stocks at a time stick with amibroker. don't waste money on metastock till you've learnt the ropes well enough. use the same money for investing instead. remember - no one is born a successful trader, you become one with practice. and 4 that u don't need metastock or ad get. what's more important is the software you've got inside ur head. you've got 2 fine tune & discipline that first. i'm posting this b'coz a lot of new wannabe traders think metastock or ad get is the only way 2 make money. they learn later the hard way that ur basic foundation has 2 b as hard as a rock 2 b able 2 successfully use any software. hope this helps all new traders out there. thanks. |

I recently bought a plugin from Equis directly by credit card and the customs duty was 15% (after paying Countervailing duty) Fedex charged Rs.1500 for clearing the software. In this budget all packaged software has excise and customs and ended up paying much more and there was to much paper work
