Highest price reached by gold in the last 250 years?

Hello,

What's the highest price ever for gold in dollars over the last 250 years?

I'm not sure if gold ever reached more than 2,000 USD/ounce but I've read somewhere that when adjusted for inflation, gold was once valued at 7,500/ounce USD in today's money.

1500 USD/ounce can't be it. I thought I saw gold reach over 1,920 USD/ounce on kitco's website and meta trader platforms in Summer 2011
