Good banking account. Please suggest!

Hello all

I have a ICICI savings and demat account but the savings account has been giving frequent headaches. Thanks to "superb security", for every little damn thing like adding a NEFT payee account to transfer money, or updating mobile number etc. ICICI wants you to come to the branch and fill out paperwork. And no, NO phone instructions to do the needful.

Want to request advice from everyone here about what Indian bank account would have good interest rates, reasonable charges and most importantly, no headaches. I have heard HDFC is good.

thanks
Nikhil

Axis Bank is the better among the choices. Average quaterly balance is 5k compared to ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, and HDFC Bank (all 10K). Axis Bank phone banking is sensible and to the point no ghoomake phirake like ICICI Bank. No IVR and long waiting periods in Axis phone banking. Time is saved here,I can vouch for that. Of course I suspect for facilities like updating mobile number needs some authentication like signature ,have not done that yet,so cannot comment.Axis Bank has a multi fold security for online transaction but have not activated the shopping feature . Of course this things cannot be avoided heard recently RBI made the norms for mobile banking stricter. Axis Bank has slightly higher interest rates.

HDFC Bank typically has higher charges. But advantage with HDFC account is that it has standing instructions to auto debit to SIP of mutual funds, also it has a good tieup with RK Global India best discount broker. So you may wanna consider that.
Third party transfer included both NEFT and RTGS and needs to be activated in addition to net banking for HDFC Bank but in case of Axis Bank at the time of account opening the iConnect feature pre activates all these features. Note: AT least one tx has 2 b done in the first 3 months to re activate the net banking feature.
