Dear Loboe and virgopal,

A warm welcome to this forum. I am sure you will find this forum very useful in your journey in stock market. A word of advice, though unsolicited. Don't go by tips and "so called" insider news that you will encounter most of the times in this market. Instead, concentrate on developing the skills to know if there is real substance in those tips or they are just rumours. Reading of post by many seniors like Saint (Teach a man to fish...) at http://www.traderji.com/trading-technicals/6072-teach-man-fish.html and a recent thread by Ivanboesky "Rules from the Masters" at http://www.traderji.com/equities/8108-rules-masters.html , by Karthik http://www.traderji.com/technical-analysis/7377-experiments-technical-analysis.html , by Kuldeep http://www.traderji.com/equities/7316-streetsmarts.html as well as by many other seniors will be worth reading.

Happy trading :)

Dear Abhay and other seniors,
Thank you for the links you provided.Actually I am trading through a offline brokerand looking for an online broker, who is trustworthy.I have read the poll results in his regard.I find lot of variance w.r.t the different posts on this subject, and left me more confused.Do you think I should go by the poll results and take a plunge?
Best regards

Dear Gopal,

From your post, does'nt look like you are a day-trader. If that is the case, you can select ICICIdirect.com as your online broaker. The biggest problem with icicidirect is, however. their higher brokerage which really matters for a day-trader. Day-traders also complain that the speed is low. But they are trust-worthy.

I operate through icicidirect and have not faced any problems so far. Neither I am a day-trader nor do I face any problem with speed of their site. Many seniors here operate through icicidirect.com whose experience adds to my confidence. I am not trying to push their product but since I have my own experience with them, penning it here. About other online services, I have only heard something, so will not be right on my part to pass on any comment. However, please do not to go by my word. Go through all the posts related to this topic. First decide on to your strategy (day-trading, swing trading, position trading, long-term investor, etc.) and then select appropriate broaker as no-one is IDEAL. You have to select the one who comes very close to fulfilling your needs.

With regards,

Abhay
