Hi to all,

I'm newbie PIO w/10yrs exp trading / broking (predom. Japanese mkts).

Equity, CBs, Warrants, options, arb & asymmetrics of particular interest
Also looking at debt opportunities.

Particularly interested in getting the right trading platform, accounts and data resources in place.

Have read many posts and probably need to spend more time there!

A big congratulations on such a fantastic resource and I hope in time I will be able to contribute as so many of you have done. I really learnt a lot already.

Once newbie Q if I may - in addition to exhange traded mkts is there an active OTC mkt (particularly in options etc) made by institutions here (or abroad). I know of PN mkt for indian stocks o/seas.

Hi Satya,

traderji and all the members join me in welcoming you to the forum.

sorry I don't have the expertise to answer your question as far as I understand there are no Over The Counter markets in India for anything equity/commodities (other than forex) we only have 25 exchanges for equity & 3 for commodities and as far as forex is concerned I am aware of only 1 major broker in India but they are currently sorting out legal hurdles. Could you specify what sort of options you are talking about?

Hi Marcus,

thanks for response - mainly interested in index options - was just wandering if there are option instruments isssued by banks - which they would then make a market in - parallel to the exchange traded options markets. It would be useful as an additional liquidity source - thats it really.

thanks. Once question if i may - I am having some software demo'd early next week - Iris charting and falcon. I have read many of the posts in the forums regarding online trading software - most being provided by online brokers such as indiabulls (PIB) i believe and others. I understand the prices there are slower than those from direct from the exchange server (ie via BOLT/BOSS?). Is this right? What I really want to do is to get an exchange machine and take live prices from that into other applications - for example options calculators etc. Is this possible? I understand that the data from the BSE/NSE is scrambled and descrambled and as a result cannot be taken to a third party package from BOLT / BOSS? Perhaps I should post this in the correct forum! sorry - just if you can help at all. I was used to using bloomberg - but obviously its quite expensive so I am looking to replicate similar functionality at lowest poss cost. Also does anyone know about whether machine trading / Algorithmic trading can be accepted by BSE / NSE? Tall order i know and I'm just feeling lazy today! Any info I get from my own enquiries though will be posted in appropriate forum. Thanks J
