Hi Rakesh,

Welcome to this forum. This is THE site for novices, and there is a lot to learn from this site and from Senior members. I suggest you take a tour of this site, where you will find a lot of interesting and informative threads. If in doubt, please feel free to post your queries in the relevant threads, and I am sure that your queries will be clarified by experts/ senior members.

To start with, I would advise you to read through the "Teach a man to fish and...." thread in the Technical Analysis section (subsection: Trading on Technicals). Saint, the author of this thread, has wonderfully explained the basics of Technical analysis and how you can use it for trading.

All the best!

Hello Pranay:

Thanks for your reply. But I am still very confused. I think you can understand my predicament - I AM LIKE A KID ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND I AM BEING ASKED TO READ A LITERARY TOME. So, doubtless you will agree, I need to learn the basics of stockmarket first before I dive into the other nitty-gritties. Is there any book which first teaches me the a, b, c of stocks before I can read and write?

Please pass me your contact number and your email-id so that we can meet if possible to take things further on from here.

Bye and keep writing and thanks for the reply.

Hi Rakesh,

Sorry for the delay in replying. Couldn't log in yesterday and all day today.

I have learnt most of the basics of the stock market from this site. Take a thorough tour of this site and you will bump across a lot of valuable stuff which will enhance your knowledge. Visit http://www.traderji.com/trading-resources/ where you will get various names of books and website that you can refer for improving your knowledge.

You can also visit investopedia.com OR icicidirect.com to learn the basics.

Meeting up will not be of much help since I too am a novice and only a step above you in terms of knowledge!! You can ask some senior member who has spent time in the stock market to be your mentor(I too am looking for one!).

Still, if you wish to contact me, I can be reached at [email protected] OR 9820668584 (Mumbai).

Cheers,

Pranay
