I have done very little of trading before, mostly long term investments, 3 to 4 years.

Here I would like to gain expertise on day trading. I tried that on my own, acting on impulse or on tips provided by DP, and failed miserably

you should read books on technical analysis of the Financial Markets and should watch any business news channel like cnbc18, cnbc awaaz for fundamental news for your stocks and then analyse them with your own skills to make your own way to trade.
