Don't open demat in sbi just for the reason that you've salary account there. It's very expensive & services are not so good.:stop:
Better open account in zerodha.Its the cheapest.Only .01% for intraday & .1 % for delivery.Best customer support.Best service.
They also offer Rs. 20 per transaction plan but its of no use for you as your capital is small however you can switch between these two plans anytime as per your need.
I'm also opening account there.Downloaded the form just have to mail it now.
I was searching for best broker from last 2 months & now the result goes with zerodha. This all information provided is collected during last 2 months by me.
I think other people will also suggest zerodha.

I'm new to this so the things I'll ask might be very silly, so please bare with me!! Okay, I saw the Zerodha site. now how do I make transactions there? do I make an account there and deposit some money in that account? or it'll be like a normal net-banking transaction, like I purchase a share there and then I pay from my bank account? So then, this way I won't have to make a Demat Account in my bank? Right?

Also, please tell me about the misc. charges and fees that are taken during the process of buying a share. In fact, I'll be grateful if you could elaborate on the process from a scratch! Do I have to pay any tax when I sell my share? Or it depends whether I have been profited or not?

I'll be highly obliged if you would revert.
