Introduction: Novice

Hi,

I am novice investor, taking the intial steps of learning to invest in the stock markets and also have a bit of interest in investing in commodities.

I dont intend to become a day trader but do intend to invest in the markets long term. I am fulltime project management professional.

I found this forum when I was searching for information to get started. Novice with market exposure only in mutual funds at the moment, I would like to get started the right way.

Primary source of information at this moment is moneycontrol.com and right now have equal interest in the commodity and stock markets. I have a medium risk bearing ability and would like to start small, understand and then start with higher levels of investment.

Please advise on getting started the right way. I am sure that there is a wealth of information within this forum and elsewhere and would appreciate pointers in the right direction.
