Default "Tips are for wimps!" My First Post & Introduction !

A Very big Hi to Traderji, All the senior & newbie boarders on this wonderful & I guess the only forum for the Indian Stock Markets. I've been gaining quite some knowledge from this site and thought its about time i contribute some of my own. I'm a financial software developer & systems analyst working as a consultant with the World Bank and have been day trading since the past 3 years, not very regularly though but as and when i find the time. I've had no training in trading as such but have learnt it the hard way, I've read quite some books on day trading and would be glad to share it with anybody interested. I follow the "Directional Day Filter" method by John Clayburg in determining market trend and swear by Mark Douglas' "Discplined Trader" when it comes to trader/market psychology. I use the RSI indicator majorly and also believe in reading the tape as that tells you where the stock is headed. But in the end of it its all about the judgement that one gets after trading experience. I was using 5paisa's Trader Terminal but they just "Upgraded" it to Trader Terminal 2005, in fact they just downgraded it. I'll be talking a lot about what's gone bad with 5paisa in another post shortly. As for now, I'm happy to be a memeber here and looking forward to a lot of learning and reasoning on stocks. Happy Posting to all.

Hi,
Can I bug you with a few questions? (me a novice)
I'm focussed on Intra day trading, &
I rely mainly on tech analysis, and downloaded a s/w 'EasyTrader'.
Can you please tell me where can I get a 'live' data feed for free?

Thanks,

Thanks,
To trade intraday you are going to need a trading terminal which any good broker can provide. That would include a live data feed. Pls go through the brokers thread in this forum. It should provide you with a wealth of information.

Welcome.

Like you, I too believe "Tips are for wimps'.

In TA, I place a lot of emphasis on the RSI which I often find to be a 'true-blue' indicator. As for identifying the trend I rely on Moving Averages. Regards the Directional day Filter, I'm clueless. What is it?

Looking forward to very interesting posts from you.

pksam

PS:
'Pagenotfound' is indeed a curious nickname, which maybe requires a post by itself (smile).

Thank you all for the replies and morale boost!

Since my id has aroused so much curiosity let me tell you why I chose it, something was wrong with my internet connection the day I was registering with traderji.com and all my browser showed was "page not found", therefore the nick.

Karthikmarar, I'm 13 posts old already so you definitely won't find a blank page when you look for my posts, I assure you.

Anyways, pksam I'm an aspiring TA and prefer makin my own tips... many of which succeed a lot of the times ! I've posted some info on Directional Day Filter in another post. Here is the link... http://www.traderji.com/trading-reso...ket-trend.html

new_trader_shaan, sorry for not replying to your post earlier, I'm not very savvy with data feeds, although searching for keywords like 'Feed'on this site will give you all the info you'll need. Take care buddy & get well soon.

Merry Christmas to All !
