Greetings. I'm just retired. Problem - small pension, agravation - inflation.
My experience has been in investing in equities. What I was thinking of doing was to buy a share direct from the companies I wished to invest in, then put in place a reinvestment order so that the income from that share would build. But this has a major problem being that most of these companies don't do this sort of thing, I am advised to go through market makers. OK, but their fees are generally more than I would spend on one share, and also, they are not too happy about buying one share for me. The USA has a more enlightened approach to this, I'm in UK, but still only a few companies are willing to go this route.
There is a company who do just one share issues, you get it all framed and nice and shiny, but you pay for the service - ouch! Also, not many of the companies I want to invest in are among their share offers.
There must be some way of being able to do this, but I can't find it.
So if anyone does have a way, please let me know, so long as it doesn't cost "an arm and a leg"!
