Beginner, hello

My dad now fells its time to involve me in share market after I approached him. I am studying management which involves finance as well, so got knowledge of few concepts. The first task he gave is to choose any two companies and do a bit of analysis. My question is what are the key things one needs to consider before investing. I mean the most basic ones.
