I am Rajendra, based out of Hyderabad, I have been invensting since 1999 but largly positional trades in Small Caps and Mid Caps.

Do you trade FTSE ? US market ?

Thanks again. Yes I do trade in FTSE and Dow. Both looking pretty bad, but there are gems there. My personal preference are
Exchange traded Funds http://uk.ishares.com/global/ and
Exchange traded commodities http://www.etfsecurities.com/en/welcome.asp

Both have ultra low Total Expense Ratio's, so most of the money is invested. However there are some superb fund managers who have consistently beaten the market average, so it makes sense to buy the funds too via a discount broker.

Presently I have almost exited the market except for a few investments, and I am waiting to see if it is an inflation or a deflation in the western economies. No one knows for sure. Not into gold, as I feel it looks like a bubble.
