day trader or day dreamer?

Hello everybody,

I am a 22 yr old college student. I am doing computer scince engineering in Kolkata. 3 years back, due to some strange circumstances at home, i came to know about what the Stock Market is. Actually my elder brother lost some money during a small correction in may 2006. My mother gave me 10000 rs to invest and in my very first day, I still remember, i made 10% profit in jsw steel! Then, i sold it through btst. Next i bought pvr cinemas. Next day again, it went up. But i could not sell. I realised thet there was no btst for Pvr. I didnt know what was going on at that momnet. Then the market crashed and i made some loss. Since that day, I have taken active interest in the stock market. I have been in the market for 3 years now. Watched cnbc and ndtv many hours a day. Skipped many college classes for that! I still have a descent portfolio after this BIG CRASH of 2008-09.

Now I want to go to Mumbai to do a course from bse india training institute. I am really very scared about my decision as i come from engineering background and have little knowledge in finance. All i have done is read some great books by Benjamin Graham, Philip Fisher and others. Till now i have never done any kind of trading. I have only invested trying to follow the instrutions in these books. Now i want to start trading and be a proffesional trader. But going to Mumbai all alone and doing a course and hoping to get a job sometimes really makes me a bit scared. I hope i have chosen the right path. And i hope one day i will call myself an expert in the stock market like many of you. :)

Hi, Suvadi

The path u intent to choose is not a rosy one. May be the toughest in the entire business world. U may have to commit all ur time and energy for a few years to break the iceberg. But there is a huge reward awaiting u if u rise to a wining trader. Remember majority in this field are losers. And ur eng. and computer background is a big plus in the business.

Regards
