Fresh off the oven!

Hi Guys,

I am very new to the stock market and have some money (abt 25,000)which I want to invest in the stock market. How do i go about doing that.

Is it necessary to go through these reputed companies like Indiabulls and ICICIdirect or can I play the game directly? Or can I take the risk with smaller local companies?

And incase I do go thro these 'reputed' companies', which one do I choose.

Thanks a lot in advance and hope to have loads of interaction wit people here.

Hello,

A warm welcome to Traderji. First you will have to open a demat account. Please read the posts in the demat section before you decide which broker you want to be with. In addition to this now may not be the correct time to invest.

I have already read most of them. And am thinking of choosing between ICICIdirect, IndianBulls or Reliance. Still cant choose one.

Why do you say now is not a good time to trade. I always thought you start buying when the market is down.

Sorry if I sound naive.

buying when the market is down would definitely work but only if the market goes back up ..... at the current time the future direction of the market is unclear and it may therefore be advisable to wait a little while especially with the US on the brink of recession and weak global cues.
