Derivatives Trader

Hello friends,

I am a retired software professional currently trading full time in the Derivatives Market.

I have been investing for the past 10 years. Day trading (part time) for about 8 years in the US markets. I am into full time trading for the past 3 years in NSE.

I trade exclusively in the derivatives market. I use custom built software to analyze and take positions and also to manage risk. I prefer to maintain a delta neutral position and continually adjust my portfolio to extract from market a 10-20% profit on my capital per month.

I am looking forward to getting new ideas, learning new things, and making new friends from this forum.

Regards,
Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

Welcome to the forum, well although I have no first hand experience I've read delta neutral theory along with the club and membership thingy is highly unreliable.

A scam ... to be short and sweet

Why don't you enlighten us, hope to learn from you. Btw are you currently in India or the US? Any reason in particular you don't trade Indian markets?

Hello Marcus:

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I don't believe that it is a scam. If used right it can help a lot to hedge against risk.

I use the term delta neutral very loosely. What I do is I make sure I have a delta less than +-100 at any time when the market is very volatile and I can't take a direction. When I feel the market is bullish or bearish, I slowly but steadily increase or decrease my delta upto about 500 or -500. At any time I hold about 200 Nifty contracts in a combination of puts and calls and futures. So I try to skim only 5% of the potential profits from taking a clear direction. But it reduces my potential loss by about 90%. Yes, it is a high investment low returns scenario, but also a low risk scenario. But my goal is to refine my strategy to consistently make between 10-20% of my investment per month.

Regards,
Rajesh

Thanks Thimma and Daitya for the welcome.

My calls will be worthless, unless it is part of the whole portfolio I am currently holding. For instance I sold 500 5200 Nifty Calls today and bought 800 5900 calls to adjust my holdings for better money management. It by itself wouldn't be that great a position. But in my overall portfolio, it meant I booked some profits, reduced my risk capital, and adjusted my position to be more bullish from my previous neutral view.

My trading style is too ultra conservative for most trader's taste. But to me it is more of a challenge to perfect my strategy, than making a killing.
Once I make my tools more user friendly, I will post some of them here and explain how I use it.

Regards,
Rajesh
