Free Real time data feed Vs paid data

#1
Dear Traderji members

Lot of people try and spend much time in getting free real time data feed into their favourite charting softwares like Metastock, Amibroker, Tradestation etc.

Although some were able to succeed in getting RT data, they say following problems.

Its delayed and not real time (For example from Yahoo -even after log-in)
Timestamp is not right.
Auto update & Auto refresh not proper.
Cannot open charts of many scrips.
Backfill not possible.
Sudden crash of charting software or trading platform.

Request some senior experts here in the forum to guide people like me on following.

1) Considering the above mentioned problems, is it not a wise idea to switch over to paid data provider.
2) Are the full time traders using free or paid data ?
3) In developed countries they have reliable data vendors. Similarly in India who is the most popular vendor in your experience.
4) Is the free RT data gud enough for small retail traders.
5) Any idea on what softwares / data feed large fund managers of hedge funds, FIIs are using.

My 2 cents:

its a trade-off..

RT data from a reliable provider is great if you are a serious trader AND you are sure to make more money than you pay for the service. I have seen people use professional software and its really cool..

I trade about 25 scripts at most and I have a script that does real time stuff. Its free but a bit painful to setup initially. I have been using it for more than a month now and it works great..Give it a try if you like.

Hi Speedmetal78,
Thanks a lot for the RT Plugin for amibroker.
I am new to trading(less than a year) I had opened almost three trading accounts with brokers like sharekhan, Religare,..etc but did not find their software that much good for charting, each having its flaws. Almost thought of taking realtime data from eSignal(without having experience to consistently earn money from market). I thank you once again for saving me the money.
