USB based internet - for dummies.

2GB in 1 week? that's a lot.

Trading terminal and charting shouldn't take that much data.

probably you watch youtube videos or download via torrent.

i have a 5GB UL plan costing me 834/- with tax. Speed ok. Data limit runs out almost a week before month cycle ends. Post limit, the speed gets pathetic - like you never want to surf the internet. Higher data plans are costly.

But, no roaming and almost all India coverage. Tata Photon.
Is it a lot ?? And there was a holiday this week as well.

I am using 3 softwares - Nest, Now and Tradetiger.

as a matter of fact, I am being quite economical with my surfing activity. For trading I am not opening any of the auto refresh sites like nseindia, yahoo finance, ET charts, google news etc.. which were a staple diet earlier. Not using youtube or torrentz either. No songs/downloads except for the bhavcopy and sharekhan's eagle eye in the evening.

Seems like MTS's 10GB/Rs. 999/30 days is a good plan then.

Maybe I have been spoiled by the years of broadband connection :). The very good thing with the dongle based internet has been that there's no disconnection at all - never a break in the ping. And it is 3.1mps connection.

Hi Tarush

Are you using Tataphoton
Then IMO, there are better option then this, not only in terms of solution of last week problem, but price and validity also. Visit Tataphoton website and look for 90/180/365 plans

BTW, which variant you are using, I mean plus, max or max wifi.
yes, iam using Tata photon. its a post paid connection rs.750 plan 5GB limit and reduced speed post 5gb.

not sure of the variant that i am using..

Being in Pune, MTS is not offered. i've to select between, idea, airtel, reliance and docomo. and of all the above, tata docomo seems the best.

If you wish to use MTS and this plan, then IMO it will be better to use (applicable for Gujarat also, I have checked)
Rs 1499 for 18 GB validity 90 days
under Exclusive Plan Voucher

Here for 50% extra price you are getting 80% extra GB and that too with 90 days validity instead of 30 days. :)

Any particular reason for using post paid connection, because post paid connections are normally not economical, in comparison of prepaid ones and moreover you wont get higher period like 90/180/365 days validity, which is quite economical, for longer usage,

last year i had a job (not anymore ) in Chennai, and this was supposed to be corporate plan. I had the impression that corporate plans are very much subsidized(better than normal retail plans) than the normal ones...so opted for it.

Moved back to Pune, and continue using my device.

kind of stuck to it.

will look into prepaid.

If you go for a new prepaid connection, only extra cost you have to incur will be of a new device for prepaid plan, OR you may ask them for a change from postpaid to prepaid plan.

Perhaps they may agree to change :)

My reliance netconnect 3, I seem to have used > 90% of the allocated usage (5GB). Need to buy another connection immediately. Maybe photon or MTS, haven't decided yet.
Both photon and mts are not only good but also light on ones pocket, though I will suggest you to go for wifi and 3G variant, it be a little costly initially (one time only) because of higher cost of dongle, but it will be forever. Plans for all variants are similar.

Actually, this Reliance thing @Rs. 301 per month / 5GB isn't bad. The prices are similar to the other ISPs.

Now what I am confused about is whether to go for a higher plan in Reliance or to try another ISP. You see, it seems that Reliance and MTS use similar softwares, and switching between them may cause some software clashes. This evening, I had uninstalled Reliance and installed MTS (for the 2nd time, trying to switch between the ISPs), but MTS wouldn't connect !!.
