Some time back I had written about the internet provider Hathway. In brief it was (1) continuous disruption (2) customer service was not even 24/7 as against promised 24x7 (3) suspending the service inspite of renewing it much in advance on both the occasions.

On last occasion, I received the intimation on 4th Dec. 06 to renew the connection which was due to expire on 10.12.06. I paid the amt. on 4th Dec., 06, the cheque was debited from my account on 7th Dec. 06. Between 4th & 7th, some one called me to remind about the renewal when I confirmed him that I had already paid the amount. Between 7th and 10th, the same person once again called me to know the status. I re-confirmed to the said person that the amt. was not only paid but the cheque was cleared on 7th. To my surprise, I found that the line was suspended on 10th Dec. When I tried to contact them between 1900 and 1930 hrs on Sunday, the 10th Dec.06 , not a single soul attended the calls. Only, auto-machine was answering, wasting my time and money. Lastly, some one appeared, apparently cursing me for spoiling his Sunday Mood, only to confirm my fear that the connection was suspended for want of renewal as had happened even on previous occasion. I made several complaints including complaint to Nodal Officer but not a single soul answered to my complaints.

Since I had already subscribed upto 10th June 07, I continued to use the net. On 29th June, I submitted written request to disconnect the line and refund my deposit. I repeatedly requested them to refund my money. It is over 2 months. There is no acknowledgement even.

Now what is the alternative?. I hv no time to go to consumer court to teach to such irresponsible service providers. Friends, only thing we can do is to educate others about such service providers and look for alternatives. Please make note of my tension and learn and teach other friends to beware!

I realised it 1 year and 3 months back and changed to BSNL, which is really good speed wise and although there are some disruptions once in a while it is by and large reliable. never again hathway or satyam.

Thank u. If I were aware earlier, I would not hv gone to them at all. This is the reason why we, consumers should keep the other innocents informed. Pl. give publicity amongst ur friends so that no one fall into Hangway again.

Why don't you become a member of consumer-voice.org , they are really effective in solving such problems and that too without going to court in most cases
Membership Charges only Rs500.00 / year
Do not let such defaulters go scot free, it will onlly encourage them too continue with such an irresponsible attitude

Rs. 500 subscription, did you ever hear a phrase, "the cure is worse than the disease"

Depends on your point of view, but they have helped solve my problems succesfully .

Membership charges, since they are an NGO, and they are nominal , atleast I think so.:)

True, depends on one's point of view, i don't spend Rs 500 to recover 500 from another company because i will have to invest even time, but i think it is fine to spend Rs 500 if they can help bigger scams like the one's mentioned in another thread


Fraud activity Is it with one broker alone????

can you post your experience and how you were benefited by the above NGO on that thread so that people who got cheated bigger amounts to the tune of lakhs can be benefited. i am sure they don't mind spending 500 bucks for that.

Currently in Charkop-Kandivili (W), Mumbai, there seems no other Internet Provider, excepting MTNL. MTNL also, I understand that, is not upto mark. Without alternative competitons, exisitng Hathway is taking clients for ride. Patiently awaiting for nw players. Any one, who can provide at the above area may contact me @ bangera_bs@*************

well hathway used to be good abt 5 years ago and since then they have gone frm bad to worse...
i am currently using airtel and have had no problems at all...

I am using Hathway in Pune .Even I am facing similar issues.I have to logout and login so many times due to the disruptions.It really frustrated me when I use to do Day-Trading.
In Pune ....TATA 's speed is good as compared to others . I don't have experience with Reliance .
