I would like to know which mediclaim policy Traderji members have taken the most.

I am 28 years old. i would like to take a mediclaim for me, wife, parents [father @58, mother @56].

Are please comment, whether you are satisfied with the selected policy ?

Please look for the following points while selecting policy:

1. Some policies come with caps on billing on several aspect eg room rent etc. Look for a policy without such caps.
2. Look for a company who has their own TPA.
3. look for a policy where you can increase the sum assured when you want to. you may now opt for a cover of 3L but you should be able to increase cover to say 10L if you want to.
4. most difficult of all. Go for a company with good claim settlement ratio.

I am planning to take National Mediclaim Individual policy for me, wife, father, mother for 1 Lakh sum assured for each of us. The policy premium comes around 12000/-.

Did any one know about better premium/policy?

I really cannot advice you on this account, as my knowledge of policies offered by different companies is limited.

However you can get a good idea about other available options if you visit the following websites:
www.apnainsurance.com
www.policybazaar.com
www.compareinsurance.co.in

If you stay in a big city, the amount of coverage that you have chosen may be insufficient, especially for your parents. You may consider a family floater plan with a higher coverage amount.

The Family floater plans usually don't cover parents. Also found many reviews Family Floater Vs Individual mediclaim. Thats why i am trying for individual policy. Also i always prefer insurance policies from PSU.

Why do you prefer PSU insurance Co? They are the ones who suddenly withdrew cashless facility from the better hospitals. Of course they were forced to restart the same.
If you think, that the payout will be easier, you are mistaken. All these PSU insurers will not deal with you directly, but through an intermediary called TPA ( Third Party Administrator). So a PSU co is only as good as the TPA.

always prefer PSU company for any type of insurance. You are member of Traderji and just forget what happed in USA and other EU Country last year. so may private insurance and banking company failed and collapse. In india all PSU compnay including Bank and insurance company perform best in the world. May be you will get your claim little bit late but you will be in safe hand

Hi Rajiv,

I've got Max Bupa's family health insurance policy, it covers upto 13 relationships and has facilities like maternity benefits, new born baby cover etc. 28 is the proper age to get such policies, so don't delay more. Just analyse your current financial liabilities, future requirements and select your health plan.
