Cause of death in insurance policy

#1
I found this line in feature section of one of the insurance plan I am considering :
"Policy is available with a choice of Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Critical Illness and Waiver of Premium Riders"

what is the meaning of "choice of accidental death".

Does the cause of death matter for insurance company to pay sum assured?

Death is always by accident whether you die at 7 by getting hit by a car or die at 87 by colliding with a chair? :)

Read this again this way...

Policy is available with following choices...
  • Accidental Death Riders
  • Dismemberment Riders
  • Critical Illness Riders
  • Waiver of Premium Riders

It's not always the choice of words but the presentation of words that make the real difference... :D

From wikipedia, I found this
"
Accidents include anything from an injury, but do not typically cover any deaths resulting from health problems or suicide.
Accidental death benefits can also be added to a standard life insurance policy as a rider. If this rider is purchased, the policy will generally pay double the face amount if the insured dies due to an accident. This used to be commonly referred to as a double indemnity coverage. In some cases, some companies may even offer a triple indemnity cover.
"

This link has some more information about riders.

Yes, suicidal death does not account for any insurance amount otherwise all those terrorist's top boss were sitting on gold mine.
I am yet to find anything related to cide in policy documents... i think it's implied.. if you die doing anything illegal, like driving after drinking, drugs bla bla, then they wont give you anything. More than enough for insurance companies to find ways to save their money... :(
