Re: TT - Tech Talk (Computers, Laptops, Tablets, Mobiles, Devices, Systems & Software

Thanks Rajesh

Will check these guys out. Am asking around, it seems there are many internet service providers (including cable guys) But the problem is always going to be of service. Unfortunately we have to choose from the best of the worst since the customers have limited options. Will keep the thread updated on my search.

DSM,

You can look this also an option, personally i have not tested yet, but read some good review about them.

Is there no mobile internet provider that is reliable for trading? vodafone 2g was crap recently, it was ok a year or two ago. Reliance jio should hopefully be good whenever they finally launch.

btw whats problem with trying MTNL 2mbps for trading ?

yes offcourse, no problem with 2Mbps connection. Am using it in my office without any prob. 2Mbps is far more than sufficient for trading and casual surfing.

:)

TracerBullet,

* You hit the nail right on the head. Guess I will have to settle for MTNL 2 MBPS - It will do hopefully. Though considering my experience, know that what the ISP promise, they deliver less.

* Hathway, has not even returned a sales call in 12 hours. So can gauge their response in case of problem!!!

* Mobile internet - The feedback is not very positive. I do not want disruptions, and it seems in case of mobile internet, there are disruptions.

* Reliance Jio - Waiting for them to start their service. I will not be surprised if they are able to capture a large slice of existing harassed internet subscribers.

MTNL Adsl gives exact speed. There is no speed sharing. It has been like this for 10+ years and they keep giving out unlimited plans with speed increase every few years. I used to get 30KBps unlimited 10 years ago, now its 110/170. Still slow vs worldwide i guess, but good enough for India - no FUP crap in my plan.

Once in a while net may go down temporarily ( say few times a year ), so may need to have backup.

Thanks TracerBullet and Candle,

You guys have helped me to make up my mind. So tomorrow will apply to MTNL for 2MBPS net connection. Will keep Tata Interenet as a backup option till we get Reliance Jio. Will surely shift to Reliance then.

BTW, for the first time I wrote to Tata Internet venting my frustration on their poor service. And for the first time too, they have chosen not to respond. :):):)

Phew!!!

A happy resolution to my internet issues. Due to my pissed off mail to Tata Internet, which for the first time I had written in that manner (though I regretted it after sending it) :):):) - it worked however. For the first time, Tata Internet deployed an Engineer instead of a contract technician. The engineer went to the router and just changed the cable connection to the router. No sooner this was done, when I checked it, my internet speed was something that I have NEVER experienced in the last 5 years! The engineer was able to resolve the issue within two minutes, whereas the technician would go up and down the building looking for the problem, whereas the issue was within the house, and hence not looked at!!! So you guys too can try this if you are having slow net or disruptions with your internet provider.

BTW -

* Hathway have NOT EVEN CALLED after 36 hours!!!

* My second internet provider will be MTNL. If I feel the need for it. (Will hold on for sometime for now)

* Wrote a mail to Tata Internet providing feedback of my experience. They can update the field technicians who will now know what to look for.

So all's well that ends well. Thanks to all you guys who wrote back. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

A backup is must. May be considered from Mobile Hostspot / Wireline / Fiber or else. From your experience I am also considering this as one of the point in my to-do list. Thanks.
