Women Directors in Indian companies

#1
Hi all,

As most of us would be aware that government has made it mandatory to have 1 women in the board of directors so will it make any impact on the performance to the toplines of the listed companies?

Can the women bring a fresh perspective of thought process of male directors ultimately resulting in better ROI?

No .... This is a stupid decision. Unfortunately, in India, reserving trumps over deserving and ...

Government should let the companies themselves decide who is the best director. Forcing male/female/caste and other stupid criteria on companies is destructive to the companies and ultimately the country.

All these decades we suffered licence permit raj. Now woman raj is being forced on us. I thought the new govt has both knowledge and spine. They have the numbers but why are they hesitant to be a little more assertive?.

Physically challenged persons may bring some fresh perspective, should the govt/SEBI force comapnies to have physically challenged director?
Poor persons may bring some fresh perspective, should the govt/SEBI force comapnies to have a poor person as director?
Why should anyone bother whether companies even need fresh perspective? Maybe they just need old perspective. Maybe they want to self-destruct and don't want fresh perspective.
Let the market/companies decide what the companies should or should not do. Strangulate them with these kind of rules and we all lose in the end.

PS: @Prashanth - I am not really addressing this post to you. It's for all to think.

Read my above post #6 as (underlined words): Let the market/companies decide what the companies should or should not do. If we strangulate companies with these kind of rules and we all lose in the end.
