Intraday question....

#1
Hi all,

This is my first post on traderji :). I started trading from today. I bought 20 shares in spicejet for 24.25 and I was planning to sell it for like 24.40, just to get started somewhere. But I noticed that, although it touched that mark a few times, I could not sell it and the status was still 'open'. Finally I converted it to delivery. Why did this happen?

Also, while selling, can I choose the market option instead of 'limit'? Clearly, it's not just buy and sell. Frustrated by this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jitatman,

You can select Market to sell the stock at market price.

When you select limit, it means that you will give a particular rate. If that price is hit and the buyer is available then your stock would be sold.

Also, There are classes of stocks.

Some of the classes can't be sold on the same day on which they are bought. But this mostly depends on your broker.

Kind Regards,
Mohammad Murad.
