Folks, can any body throw light as to how to move forward?

I had long time back bought shares of Anik Industries, the certificates of which was lost. but as I continue to receive the annul report, I now wish to have the shares credited to my demat account.

Initially when I wrote to the registrars, they totally ignored my request. However, I wrote to them again with a copy to SEBI, the following day, I received the following response :

For issue of duplicate shares please submit Police FIR Oirginal/Zerox duly attested by issuing authority or notary public. After receipt of FIR we issue format of Indemnity bond and affidavit .

My question is : Has anybody gone thru this process? What is the best way to move ahead with this.?

Appreciate any advise on this issue.

Thanks.

The procedure as said by the company is as per company law.....it may take 2 or 3 months you get the physical share after share committee meeting of the Company. Definitely you have to follow the above procedure.

Thanks Amit for the comprehensive reply. You surely are a great help. About filing FIR with the police, this will be the first time for me. So was wondering if any TJ member had gone thru this process.... and their experience thereafter.

Thanks Laotze for your response as well.

this is the only way to get the duplicate share certificate. once you get the duplicate certificates from the company, you can send them back for dmat.
filing an fir in such cases is not difficult, if you claim that you have lost the certificates. it is a problem only if one claims that they have been stolen / robbed. I would suggest that you go to a competent notory public in your city, preferably close to an erstwhile regional stock exchange and he will guide you thru the whole process.
