How many days to paper trade before live trading?

#1
Hi friends,

Currently I have back tested my system and its working fine, so I will start to check it by paper trading for few weeks, but what i found as an issue last time with my previous system is with paper trading it worked well giving around 12% returns on average over two weeks but when i implemented the same, stops got hit frequently so what happened is most of my winning trades became break even and loosing trades were loosing, does this mean i am not placing stops at correct places, usually my stops were 0.25% away from my entries.

Please advice how much days i should test any system by paper trading before going into live trading with small quantities to test my confidence and also if some one can advice on stops, whether anything I am missing to take into account while putting stop loss, it would be great.

Thanks in advance. Waiting for senior traders help on my query here.

regards,
Mukunth.

To test or improve a system, it is better to live trade with minimum number of units for 3 months than paper trade.

0.25% is tight, you will keep on hitting stop loss everytime. Increase it to 2%.
