Yesterday's LTP vs Today's CMP

#1
Dear Friends,

We know that for Non-Nifty50 scripts(eg: NDTV, DishTV, etc, etc), today's opening priceat 9.15AM is never the same as its yesterday's LTP at 3.30PM. It is either High or Low but never the same.

Also we know that we cannot trade in pre-market 7-8 minutes for these non-nifty50 scripts. Moreover, even if we try to place an order for non-nifty50 scripts, the system rejects the order.

So my dear friends, i am really anxious to know how does this discrepancy occurs when there is nothing we can do between market close and market open timings.

simple:
next day order book is different from the order book of last evening.

on the next day, NSE has to start the order matching process with some start price, they use the new orderbook data to kickstart a new start price level. You can dig NSE site to know exact method they use to determine this new price level...

Hello Friend, Thank u for ur response.

Orderbook mentioned above refers to company's orderbook or are u referring to the Buy/Sell order placed by the Investors/DIIs, etc.?

orderbook: where all traders buy/sell orders are queued for order matching.
In this case, its only possible with scripts which are part of Nifty50 index.

I wish to know the start price of other scripts which are not part of Nifty Index like NDTV, Pantaloon, etc, etc.. :)

U got it now. :thumb:

My humble request to other members/senior members to throw some light on my query.
I actually got the question immediately (any one with such a nice name Jatin_the_great should be great after all ;) ) !

I can tell you the answer, but you should find answer to the following question :

If everybody knew tomo's price, and lets say tomo price is going to double!
you want to buy some stock but which idiot will sell that to you !??
(after all the other_trader_the_great also wants to double his money!).

Now the question, can be simplified to, I know past week's price, I want to know next week's price ;), we have the same problem, if everyone knew next weeks price,
from which idiot you are going to buy to double your money on next week !?

Hahaha. Thank for remembering my name. Well i got ur point here.

Also what i observed that there are pending orders (Buy or Sell) even after market is closed. How is it possible as our systems does not allow to place post/pre market orders.
