Qestion about major Indices.

Hey guys,

I have a question.
Can i sell the indices like C&P CNX nifty in the morning and square off position around 3:00 PM ?
Also
Can i buy the indices like C&P CNX nifty in the morning and square off position around 3:00 PM ?

It is meant for intraday ( within the same day ) dealing where positions are taken and released same day.

Basically i have experience with forex but was wondering if we can do the same with Major Indices, were we can sell or buy to begin with.

Or do we only buy Major indices ?

A number of Indices are tradebale in Derivatives!!
The most common being : Nifty, Bank Nifty, CNXIT, CNXINFRA etc...
You can Buy and Sell the Index futures the same day!
A few foreign indices are also tradeable in Indian Rupees...

so i have specific question about this only.

Yes, we call S&P CNX Nifty in short as Nifty.

You can't buy/sell the SPOT Nifty. The derivative contracts based on the respective indices can be traded.

So you can trade Nifty futures and Options.

So i can sell/buy S&P CNX Nifty (in short as Nifty)?
This will be known as index trading, right ?
May i know what i kind of spreads there are in general ?
Sorry for so many questions but the thing is that i am watching this chart only and trying to get familiar with its personality.
I think that i need to watch something long enough before i start trading it.
I am planning to do this intraday and focus on only one chart.
What is spot nifty that you have mentioned ?
