A Question regarding subscription times

Hi,

What does it mean when they say that the shares has been subscribed x number of times.

For e.g. Power Grid Corp FPO subscribed 9.72 times on QIB support

suppose the company wants to issue 5 lakhs number of shares and the total application received is for 45 lakhs of shares, then it is said that the issue is subscribed 9 times.
