IPL T20 & Transparency

Hi

So all the 56 league matches of IPL T20 are over and all the teams from south emerge as the Semi finalists, that is, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

One may wonder, how I am counting Mumbai in South. History shows that the Great Marathi warrior Shivaji was always referred to as Dakkhan ka Chooha by Aurangajeb. Even the Deccan Queen runs between Mumbai & Pune. So, it is pardonable to count Mumbai in south.

All the Northern teams, Punjab, Rajastan, Delhi and Kolkata are Out.

Is every one is in a mood to accept these results with the back ground of the current charges of Match fixing and Betting against the IPL chief Lalit Mody ?

We do not have the details of truth as of date. The authorities shall try and dig it out. But knowing the past, one wonders if the truth will ever come out. After all, the govt servants have a habit of finding scape goats, and also of accepting paper weights to look the other way and keep mum.

But one thing is certain. The Captain and the Team Manager of the semi finalists must be applauded for showing good team management, as well as the tem selection for every match that they have played.

Shashi Tharror is out of Ministry and Sunanda Pushkar is on the way out from Randez vous sports. So far, only the bidding process was highlighted. But the rest of the functioning of IPL has been kept un-disclosed.

Even after 3 years that we do not know the exact profit made by IPL in 2007, and how was it distributed. Did the regional clubs and also the BCCI earn a large sum, and if so, what exactly is the large sum? How much earned from the sell of tickets, or from the sell of merchandise or the ads on TV channels?

One thing I am dead sure of. No matter what kind of enquiry goes into the functioning of IPL and the time it takes to complete it and punish the persons found guilty, none of us will ever know the real story. Unless one of the insiders decides to write a book and disclose it after 10-12 years from now.

Truly.Mera Bharat Mahan !

Cheers!
