Company Valuations

#1
Hi all,

I would like to buy and hold stocks in the coming days. I have never directly invested in stocks before (being passive through mutual funds). I don't even have a DEMAT account right now and I am no hurry. I want to learn before I make any long term commitment.

I started reading up various sites and forums like traderji are treasure troves of information. All of them say 1 singular point i.e. don't go by rumors or hot tips and recommendation of even your broker. When making a long term equity investment, evaluate a company - look at Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash flows, operational profits and so on.

Now where do I access this kind of information along with historical information like past performances for a company? Do all companies publish their details on their websites? Are there any specific websites that would consolidate published financial details of various large/mid/small cap companies?

Many thanks,
lonsharim

Take a trading account with any leading brokrage house or simply visit some of their sites - the information you are looking for is available easily and freely. Look for information in links like under the name research, compnay snapshots, finacial results etc. Some sites not in any particular order of preference are

www.idbipaisabuilder.in
www.hdfcsec.com
www.sbicaps.com
www.reliancemoney.com

Hope this helps. Bye !!
