Icici demat

Hi..

I have a small doubt here.I bought some shares on 30 March 09 and still they are not yet credited into my DEMAT account.I thought of selling them today as the market is good. But when I tried placing an order it throws an error saying "Insufficient allocation ".Can anybody tell me whether it is normal? I am a novice to trading :(
In how many days will the shares get credited in ICICI Direct ?

Regards,
KK

When you buy shares in cash segment, they are settled on T+2 basis. That is 2 days after you have bought the shares, the shares would come to your account. Thats how clearing and settlement takes place. You may want to take a look at the www.nseindia.com for further details.

Hi, KK

You can able sell some company's shares before allocation in your account.
That is called BTST (Buy today sell tomorrow). To check this you have to click 'Security projection' in Trading page. There you can find those shares you bought it yesterday wiht (BTST). But the brokerage is different for this BTST.

Possibilities

Your demat is not credited as it is yet to become T+2

If so, check whether the stock is in BTST list.

If T+2 is done, then try clicking "allocate" link in your demat section

can a cash transaction be changed to BTST if the link is available for that share? will brokerage be charged again?

thanks
Rishi
BTST is nothing but a CASH transaction in every respect, except you can do it before T+2

ok. what I wanted to know was... if i have already done a cash transaction, and as mentioned in this post ... if hte price goes up by an amt that i am comfortable selling at the next day ( but cant as it is not T+2 as yet) then can i just convert taht transaction into BTST by clickin on the BTST link ( if its available for that share) and will extra brokerage be charged if I did that?

Thanks,
Rishi

I don't know what do you mean by "extra brokerage"

By selling BTST (by clicking the link), you will be charged brokerage as like as you sell CASH

i meant will i be charged for buying in the cash transaction and then again for converting it to BTST and then finally again when i sell them.

so the 'extra' bit was when i convert them..... will that happen???
