job as a trader

Where to look for a share trader's job in India? Most of the job sites offer arbitrage and dealer/RM's jobs which i am not interested in. i am looking for a full time trader's job. I trade in F&O segment.

Are there any firms which provide funds for traders to trade on profit sharing basis?

Most of the successful traders trade their own accounts. But is there any traderji member working as a full time trader with a firm, trading the firm's money? Please post your experiences and payout structure.

Job means have to pay monthly salary?? who is there in this world who will give you money to trade as well as will pay you salary.
2nd you are telling about profit sharing, but what abt your loss sharing, as stock market is such a field where sky is limit and 71% of earth is of water. SO WHAT ABOUT LOSS DEAR.
You may be any level of trader but you have to consider and tell about loss sharing also if ur looking for such an opportunity.

Hi Rohan,

Wrong My Friend,

There Are Lots & Lots Of Firms With Proprietary Trading Book (Prop Book)

Some Have Their Strategies Cut Out By The Firm Or The CIO & You Have To Follow It Exactly......Not As Exciting As What Onlinetrader Is Looking For, He Is Looking To Trade The Prop With His Own Strategies, Not Sure, Probably Not Enough Capital Of His Own.

& What The Prop Trader Gets Is A Percentage Of Profit & Probably A Basic Salary To Start With.......

There Are Lots Permutation & Combinations & Varied Types Prop Trading, But The Prop Trader Doesn't Have To Share Losses & Over A Period His Allocated Amount gets Increased So He Stands To make More Profit...So On & So Forth

Happy & Safer Trading

Once upon a time Tradewell Portfolios had advertised in ET for traders to trade with their money. Thoguh I did not reply immediately as i was not a full-time trader at the time; but I contacted them later through e-mail when I wanted to trade full-time. They showed some initial interest and asked me for my backgoroung details. When I sent them the required information they did not reply back. May be they were not satisfied with my background information. That should not prevent you from trying them. They had given 2 e-mail addresses. I am giving them here. traders @brandrealty.in and tradewellportfolios @gmail.com. Remove the spaces before @.

Hope this helps.

I myself work for ICICI as a Forex trader...I also know some guys who work on prop desks for trading Indian markets.

Here are some of my observations:

1) If you are a fresher, you ought to have some trading disciplines and strategies to work with. If you have neither, the payout structure would be less initially. some comapnies might train you basic trading, and then leave you out in open to trade. upon satisfactory performance, you are given raises in various forms.

2) If you have an established track record, you can find a better monthly salary plus a higher cut in the profits. The advantage of working with such a firm is that you get huge exposure limits. And if your trading style suits the company, you do make a killing.

3) its better to work for start up or new prop desks....If you are confident, this will take you a long way. However, it may suit people only with previous track record.

4) payout structure is generaly a fixed salary plus a cut in the profits that you make. usualy the profit payout is quaterly or half yearly. This helps the firm to net off your losses as much as possible. As you grow, the fixed salary and the profit cut, both increase. Also, some companies increase your trading limits. Thus, even with the same percentage returns on the capital that you wud trade, you wud make more money to your pocket.

i do know some friends in the prop desk for indian markets. i may be able to help you, if you can detail about yourself.

Happy Trading
