I just watched Ratan Tata giving Press conference announcing that NANo Plant would be relocated out of Singur as he does not see any hope for Plant functioning in Singur. He feared for safety and security of his employees, vendors and said Ms Banerjee had pulled the trigger. Of course , he did not blame WB Govt and did not rule out future investment. He also did not indicate the cost of relocating saying it would be worked out later. He would provide all support to vendors who are integral part of the project. He said that determination of Land and project requirements should be in thier hand and other should not decide what Tata Motors need for the project. He also said that NANO would be launched as per schedule. He said they had a responsibility towards shareholder and to see that resources are not employed in sub-optimal manner. Pant Nagar Plant is working towards this goal. He had not yet finalised the new location for NANO Plant. He hinted that fundings might be coming from some quarters who had stake in failure of NANO.It would be probed. Before Press Meet he had a meting with WB CM.

Personally, I admire Ratan Tata much more that any other industrialist. I could feel the sadness in his voice.

What could be the implications for West Bengal? How industrialization would proceed.? Would it spoil the image of WB?What could be the future political scenario and who would be blamed for this fiasco? Valiant attempt by Mr. Buddhadeb would simply fail in face of a determined Lady? Whether policy of Govt for Land acquisition is at fault? What about compensation and rehabilitation policies? What about employment loss in the area? Needless to say Tata Motors committed to investment in WB through NANO (Rs 1500 crs) at a time when no investor wanted to go there.Would they go now??

So many issues. These are not specific to WB alone. They have bearings on industrialization and consequently on the Market. So I feel if members could discuss and share their knowledge and opinion on this , that would be great.

Mamatha Banarjee was a rebel without a cause and a crusader without a direction in the past and now that Singur has offered her a cause to agitate, she took the movement to a logical conclusion, which is abondoning the nano project in WB. She won a battle, not the war.

How people of West Bengal would react?? What about those in Singur ,who supported and I was told majority of Landowners were in favour. Is it true?

What would be impact on state industrialization in WB.?Whether Ms Banerjee's esteem/reputation would go up in the eyes of people of the area and state.

Mamatha Banarjee had the luxury of being in the opposition in WB , therefore could behave irresponsibly. She could have asked for a better compensation package and saved the nano project for WB. If perchance the people stand by her and vote her to power in WB , I am sure she would do things exactly the way the present government did , that is cajole industrialists to setup plants in her state. Her volte face will surprise no one.

When shall people in opposition parties realise that there is no necessity to oppose each and every activities of the ruling party? When will they realise that they too must keep in mind that their actions must be constructive and conducive to the development of the state as a whole? Has the opposition parties ever thought that whether any industrialist worth the salt will ever dare to establish any major industry in WB after pushing out Tatas?

By the way, communists need not shed tears on this matter. After all they are tasting their own medicine. How does it feel to them now? Remember that it is the very same communists who harassed industrialists and made investing in WB and Kerala a nightmare.

everybody, including mamta supported the project. what raised everybodies eyebrow, including the comrades is the way the govt. became a land broker for an industrial group.

What would be impact on state industrialization in WB.?
nothing. abosolutely nothing. if there be any impact then it will be on a country on a whole.

Whether Ms Banerjee's esteem/reputation would go up in the eyes of people of the area and state.
